Dr Vitrector comments on closing of Phillips Eye Institute

With great sadness Dr. Vitrector performed and completed the last surgery at the Phillips Eye Institute ever on Feb 28 at 6pm. That night, the lights were turned off in the OR and the doors were locked the following morning. Unbelievably, Allina has decided to close the Phillips Eye Institute after more than 35 years. PEI was an unparalleled institution which provided state of the art surgical eye care to the entire upper midwest region. The nurses, surgeons, housekeeping staff and groundskeeping staff were the best of the best! Dr. Vitrector will sorely miss all of the folks who were part of the PEI family. May the Force be with you all!
